In March Tonie and Kevin married in a beautiful and romantic garden wedding at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney. They married in the Rose Garden under a gorgeous tree with their guests sheltering under parasols from the soft rain. Tonie walked down the aisle to the sounds of a string quartet and she looked amazing in her vintage gown. Tonie and Kevin did not take their eyes off each other the whole ceremony and were grinning ear to ear. Once the ceremony was completed by the lovely celebrant Jessie Cacchillo we went and shot the location photos around the gardens. There was no shortage of amazing areas to shoot in and Tonie and Kevin and the bridal party enjoyed every minute as you can see in the photos below.

The reception was held at the Botanic Garden Restaurant which is located in the middle of the park. Tonie and Kevin had designed the settings so beautifully alongside the team from Sticks and Wicks and the cake, place settings and guest favours were from the amazing Adriano Zumbo. The reception was a lot of fun with live music by the Baker Boys and the guests really enjoyed themselves, the speeches were entertaining with humour added from Kevins Scottish family.

I want to thank my lovely friend and Brisbane wedding photographer Naomi from Naomi V Photography for coming along and shooting the wedding with me. We always enjoy working together.

If you ever saw four seasons in one day would you try to photograph all of those in an hour? Well that is what we did for the location shoot for Veronica and Brendans wedding. After a rainy ceremony and bursts of sun we headed to the most amazing location in Kiama. When entering the area I think you could have heard my jaw drop. We were surrounded by tall rocky cliffs, black and ochre sand and boulders that led out to the ocean that was crashing against the cliffs.

We were playing cat and mouse with the weather as it sprinkled, then shone fierce sunlight then we had magical cloud cover. The location shoot just fell into place so perfectly. Veronica and Brendan really shone for the camera and their bridal party really made it all work perfectly as well.

I also wanted to note that Veronica designed and made the gorgeous flowers that you will see in the shots below, a very talented woman she is. How funky are the vintage bikes as well, which also featured in Veronica and Brendans engagement shoot.

Veronica and Brendan, thank you so much for letting me capture your beautiful wedding day, it was such an honour and also thank you for your heartfelt thanks during the speeches. Thank you again to Michael for being the most super 2nd shooter for the day.

Easter is fast approaching and there has been a lot of new additions to the world in terms of babies, as well as new additions to Sabii Photography. We have recently added a studio to our business. This has always been something we have wanted to add to the business for some time now. We are set up to capture studio portraits from newborns to adults. Clients of Sabii Photography now have the option of having a natural light outdoor session, which will always be our preference, or a studio session which will suit newborns and smaller children perfectly.

One of the first clients we had in the studio was baby Y, just over 6 months old. She was such a happy, calm baby and after taking a moment to warm up she was soon smiling away and moving around the space. She kept us on our toes and it was a very fun session.

In February, right before Valentines Day, Veronica and Brendan were married in front of family and friends.

The day was a strange one weather wise, sun and blue skies in the morning and just as Veronica arrived to walk down the aisle at Brendan’s parents gorgeous riverside home, the heavens opened. The ceremony was so beautiful and made even more beautiful by the involvement of their son Archer who would run up to them and stand by their side and hug them. After the ceremony the sun and blue skies reappeared and all guests came out onto the grass to witness the signing and congratulate them both. It was the start of a magical day. Below are some of my favourite images from the first half of the day. Thanks to Michael for coming along and second shooting for me.

One month is already over in 2012 and I hope it’s all travelling smoothly for you all. It has been a hectic start to the year here but I am loving every minute.

This Saturday I will be photographing the wedding of Veronica and Brendan in Kiama/Minnamurra. The Kiama region is stunning after rain so I am looking forward to all the green around and saturated nature colours.

I recently shot the engagement/getting to know my shooting style session with Veronica and Brendan down at Wollongong and it was such a sunny, blue sky day. The storm clouds came over just as we were shooting the last frames and it made the whole scene so vibrant. They also rode down to the beach on their super cute vintage bikes which we just had to use in some of the shots.

Vee and Brendan, I can’t wait to capture your gorgeous day on Saturday.

It’s been very busy with portrait sessions and I have also been second shooting weddings for photographers in Sydney. What is second shooting some of you may ask? When shooting a wedding it is ideal (not always the case) to have a second shooter there to capture alternative views of the day, usually more of the candid moments and to also work with the primary shooter on location shoots. I always use a second shooter for my client weddings, I like to know that they will have an even greater variety of shots to choose from and to treasure. Second shooting also lets you hone your skills in capturing wedding moments as they are always varied. One wedding may be a beach wedding and reception centre, the next may be a church wedding and a reception on a boat. I will be second shooting a lot this year as well as my own weddings so look out for some great shots on the blog soon.

Well summer hasn’t really had a show in Sydney this year and with the school holidays nearly over we are lamenting the hot summer we never had.

We did manage to get some sun time as a family when we went away in December and I wanted to share some personal family shots of my two children who are growing too fast, just as they got back from the beach. There is always one cheeky member of a family and I know my daughter takes that prize.

Enjoy their cheeky smiles and funny faces and I hope those in flooded areas in NSW and QLD are staying dry.

As promised here is Part 2 of the wedding of Samantha and Zubayr.

After the reception in the Italian Village at The Rocks, the sun and high temperatures that we had experienced all morning and during the day dissipated into stormy skies and rain. We managed to walk under cover along footpaths around the harbour to capture our afternoon and evening formal shots and we all had fun in the rain. One thing that brings out the best in bridal parties is playing in the rain. It adds to the celebration of the big day and Samantha and Zubayr always had smiles on their faces. We even found a Mr Whippy ice cream van which you will see in one of the shots below.

Once again thanks so Sarah for her help on the day. Also thank you to Samantha, Zubayr and the bridal party for making the day such a fun one.

In late November I shot the two day wedding of Samantha and Zubayr. They had a traditional Islamic wedding ceremony on the Saturday evening and Sunday was the reception and formals. It was a very hot and sunny day on the Sunday and for a change we got to shoot formals for several hours during the day. The first series I want to share with you are of Samantha and Zubayr getting ready with the bridal party and their first formal shoot at Samantha’s parents gorgeous country property (I saved Samantha’s Dad the trouble of mowing the long grass much to his delight by requesting he keep the grass long out back).

I hope you enjoy the love that this couple displayed, so sweet to see such a beautiful couple so loved up. Thanks to Sarah for being my 2nd shooter for the day, she shot the funky groom and groomsmen getting ready as well as other images throughout the day. The next instalment of this wedding will be the formals after the reception.

I have been on holidays for a few weeks and I am slowly coming back to work. I have so many shoots to share with you over the coming weeks and some exciting weddings and portrait sessions coming up as well.

The past week I have had a dear friend staying in Sydney so I have been going along to some of the shoots with her, the one I am sharing today is an ‘In Love’ session with the gorgeous couple Alyce and Nick. This shoot was an adventure with several locations and stunning light.
